bioplastics, processing, polymer testing and analytics, biodegradation, sustainability assessments
Cooperation with Japan
With its experience in (bio) plastic processing and testing as well as biodegradation of plastics IKK offers its contribution for joint projects in Topic 2: Development of bioproducts with novel qualities, enhanced functionalities, and improved sustainability.
Possible contributions are the processing and adjustment (by blending / addition of additives) of novel biobased plastics, their chemical, rheological and mechanical characterization as well as a wide range of investigations into biodegradability. Additionally, IKK can perform sustainability assessments (life-cycle assessments LCA) of developed materials or processes.
The IKK - Institute for Plastics and Circular Economy at the Leibniz University Hannover analyses the entire life cycle of plastics in its research work. The focus here is on strategies for increasing resource efficiency and defossilising the plastics value chain. In this area, the focus is on material development, energy-efficient processing, plastics in the environment, the recycling of plastics and bioplastics as well as component manufacture and the accompanying sustainability assessment.
