Our expertise:
- Isolation of new bacterial strains from environment using different enrichment methods
- Media optimization for specific bacterial cultivation processes using Design of Experiments
- Single Cell Protein production under heterotrophic and autotrophic conditions
- Hydroxyectoine production in one of our own bacterial strain
- Polyhydroxyalkanoate production in bacterial strains
We are looking for partners for following possible projects:
- genetic engineering of isolated bacterial strains for optimized production of ectoin and/or hydroxyectoin
- production of monomer 3-hydroxybutyrate via engineered metabolic paths in bacterial strains
or other possible projects if our expertise would be of interest
Fraunhofer IME is one of the worldwide leading institutes for production of valuable compounds in microorganisms and plants and has a long-lasting expertise in the production of recombinant proteins and drugs. In the New Agricultural Systems department, new research activities for a novel protein production for food and feed are under development. The main focus of the Single Cell Protein group is production of alternative proteins from bacterial sources. Beside protein production, the isolated bacterial strains can produce other compounds of interest, like polyhydroxyalkanoates or hydroxyectoine.
